The Role: R&D Manager
As an R&D Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying new opportunities, designing and developing products, and optimizing existing solutions. Your responsibilities will span formulation, testing, clinical trials, compliance, and project management, all while working closely with regulatory, quality, operations, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & Innovation
- Identify high-potential product concepts, ensuring feasibility in terms of science, intellectual property, production, cost, and market fit.
- Lead the development of medical devices, food supplements, cosmetics, and biocides, working in-house and with external partners.
- Project Management
- Collaborate with research labs, manufacturers, engineering agencies, CROs, and regulatory consultants to drive product development.
- Oversee project budgets, manage testing processes with external partners, and analyze scientific data.
- Ensure all products meet regulatory and quality standards for compliance across multiple categories.
- Assess and address intellectual property rights and risks.
- Cross-Department Scientific Support
- Provide expert scientific insights and technical guidance to regulatory, quality, operations, and commercial teams.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- PhD or significant experience in scientific research within the life sciences sector.
- 5-10 years of experience as an R&D/Project Manager in the pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare industry.
- Strong interest in pharmaceutical technology and industrialization (post-doc experience is a plus).
- Proven expertise in product development, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
- Experience in project management and regulatory affairs is beneficial.
- Ability to estimate market potential and translate ideas into viable product concepts.
- Experience in marketing strategies, technical dossier preparation, and clinical trials.
- Knowledge of intellectual property and patent regulations.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in academic and technical English (Dutch or other languages are a plus).
- Strong project management and scientific writing capabilities.
- High level of precision in scientific practices and analytical work.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
