DESCRIPTION:Veterinarians play a crucial role in animal research\, yet many people are unaware that animals involved in scientific studies receive veterinary care. Veterinarians ensure that all ethical regulations and animal welfare standards are upheld within an institution\, be it public or private. They are the first to raise concerns when these standards are not met\, and they adhere to the highest standards for a global culture of care. \n\n\n\nThis is the second edition of EARA webinars\, after a very successful first one with over 200 attendees on patient engagement in animal research and direct contact with the researchers working on their conditions. \n\n\n\nNow we turn to a specialised and diverse panel of veterinarians working with animals for scientific purposes.  \n\n\n\nConfirmed speakers: \n\n\n\n\nLucie Côté (McGill University Health Centre – Research Institute\, Canada)\n\n\n\nMerel Wegman (Biomedical Primate Research Center\, The Netherlands)\n\n\n\nMichael McKinney (Vanderbilt University\, USA)\n\n\n\nMore speakers to be announced in the upcoming weeks\n\n\n\n\nThe event will end with a panel discussion moderated by Lucie Côté with all participants. \n\n\n\nWe hope this event enlightens diverse audiences about the role of veterinarians in animal research and their mission to ensure animals receive the best possible care while they participate in life-changing studies. \n\n\n\nThis event is online only.
