SUMMARY:Advanced anaesthesia for surgical or prolonged procedures
DESCRIPTION:This unit provides information on the use of anaesthetics for surgical procedures. It also includes information on the use of anaesthetics to provide humane restraint during other\, non-painful\, procedures\, such as imaging. After completion of this module\, learners should have an understanding of factors influencing the selection and application of anaesthesia for these procedures. \nOnline only – 12-14th May 2025. Materials will release two weeks in advance. \nWe highly recommend completion of the level 5 unit Anaesthesia for minor procedures before attending this unit. \nCourse Details\nCourse length: 200 hours \nCredits: 20 \nTeacher: Paul Flecknell \nYou will cover\n\nAnaesthesia for both surgical and non-surgical procedures\nBalanced anaesthesia\nPost anaesthetic recovery\n\nKey Skills you will develop\n\nAn understanding of why anaesthesia is required for both surgical and non-surgical procedures\nAbility to describe how different drug classes interact to produce the three components of the anaesthetic triad to different degrees\, and how balanced anaesthesia might be best achieved by using combinations\nAbility to describe methods to optimise post anaesthetic recovery to ensure a smooth and rapid recovery from anaesthesia\n\n  \n*Further IAT fees may apply
