SUMMARY:Advanced anaesthesia for surgical or prolonged procedures
DESCRIPTION:This unit provides information on the use of anaesthetics for surgical procedures. It also includes information on the use of anaesthetics to provide humane restraint during other\, non-painful\, procedures\, such as imaging. After completion of this module\, learners should have an understanding of factors influencing the selection and application of anaesthesia for these procedures.\n\nOnline only – 11-13th May 2026. Pre-course materials will release two weeks in advance.\n\nWe highly recommend completion of the level 5 unit Anaesthesia for minor procedures before attending this unit.\nCourse Details\nDiploma Credits: 20\n\nIAT CPD Credits: 45\n\nTutor: Paul Flecknell\nYou will cover\n\n Anaesthesia for both surgical and non-surgical procedures\n Balanced anaesthesia\n Post anaesthetic recovery\n\nKey Skills you will develop\n\n An understanding of why anaesthesia is required for both surgical and non-surgical procedures\n Ability to describe how different drug classes interact to produce the three components of the anaesthetic triad to different degrees\, and how balanced anaesthesia might be best achieved by using combinations\n Ability to describe methods to optimise post anaesthetic recovery to ensure a smooth and rapid recovery from anaesthesia\n\n*Further IAT fees may apply

SUMMARY:Statistical analysis for in vivo and in vitro scientists Online Course
DESCRIPTION:This course consists of three 3-hour webinar sessions (including discussion activities utilising the group chat function\, polls\, individual activities and breaks). These sessions will take place 09:30-12:30 BST daily\, Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th May 2026.\n\nSession one will cover:\n• Understanding\, identifying\, minimising variation and its impact.\n• How the scientific question and experimental design influence the choice of statistical analysis method.\n• What summary statistics are available and when to use them.\n• Why and how to transform your data\, plus strategies for dealing with outliers.\n• The structure of a significance test using a two-sample t-test as an example.\n\nSession two will cover:\n• What measures of precision should be used and when\, including SD Vs SEM plus confidence interval.\n• Non-parametric statistical tests and other simple tests to compare more complex data sets.\n• Basics of ANOVA and why it should often be used instead of multiple t-tests.\n\nSession three will cover:\n• What experimental designs and data features require an extension to statistical analysis methods such as ANOVA and how to incorporate them.\n• ANOVA for randomised block designs and factorial treatment structures\n• Analysis of Covariance\, ANCOVA Vs Change from Baseline.\n• Assumptions of ANOVA and ANCOVA

SUMMARY:LIVE Responsible Research Webinar - Improving the Reproducibility of Cell Line Research
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Steve Smith and Dr Nikki Osborne for this LIVE responsible research webinar about “Improving the Reproducibility of Cell Line Research”\n\nDuring this session Steve (Senior Product Manager\, IDEXX BioAnalytics) will explore the often overlooked threats to cell health and reproducibility caused by contamination\, misidentification\, and genetic drift compromising data integrity\, delaying publications\, and derailing downstream programs. He will share how leading labs are building proactive quality strategies to protect their research before answering any questions that the audience may have.\n\nAttend this webinar to learn how to:\n– identify the most common—and most overlooked—sources of contamination in cell culture\n– understand the true prevalence of cell line misidentification and genetic instability\n– recognize how these risks impact reproducibility\, publications\, and downstream decision-making\n– implement practical\, time-based testing strategies to safeguard your work\n– build a proactive cell health strategy—not just reactive testing\n– find useful resources and further information.
