DESCRIPTION:Theme: The Replacement Debate: Science\, Limitations & Public Trust \n\n\n\nAre you an Establishment Licence Holder (PELh) responsible for overseeing animal research within the UK? Join us for an exclusive workshop\, organised by the LASA PELH Committee\, to explore the critical topic of replacement animal models and their current limitations.  \n\n\n\nWorkshop Overview \n\n\n\nWhile advancements in replacement models continue to progress\, the question remains: How do we encourage updates\, what are their current limitations\, and how do we communicate the message of essential animal research integrated with alternative systems? This workshop will provide an in-depth discussion on the challenges and future directions in replacement methodologies under the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986\, as regulated by ASRU.  \n\n\n\nKey Themes \n\n\n\n\nFuture pathways: What is current and next for replacement methodologies? \n\n\n\nIdentifying the limitations of current replacement models \n\n\n\nCommunicating the need for animal models to the public and stakeholders \n\n\n\nInstitutional approaches to replacement \n\n\n\nInsights from key organisations\, such as the NC3Rs and Replacing Animal Research \n\n\n\nGovernment policy updates on the “Roadmap for Replacement” \n\n\n\nThe latest public opinion on animal research  \n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed not as a showcase of replacement models but as a critical discussion on their use\, current limitations\, future directions\, and the continued necessity for whole-animal models in specific research areas.  \n\n\n\nAt the end of the event there will be an informal networking session with other PELhs over drinks. \n\n\n\nThe full scientific programme will be published soon.

DESCRIPTION:The Large Animal Research Network (LARN) is excited to announce that this year’s in-person meeting will be held across the 24-25 September with a focus on farm animal disease models  \n\n\n\nMeeting Overview\n\n\n\nThe first day of the meeting will include a 3Rs event and farm tour before a full day of farm animal disease presentations with opportunities for networking throughout.
